Haavoitettu risti on profeetallinen teos rististä, joka kantaa näkyvästi kärsimyksen jälkiä – mutta myös lunastuksen kultaa.
Teoksen keskellä kohoava verenpunainen risti ei ole sileä eikä koskematon. Sen pinta on voimakkaasti teksturoitu, haavoitettu ja rosoinen. Punainen puhuu Kristuksen verestä ja hinnasta, joka maksettiin rakkaudesta. Ristin pinnasta nousevat kultaiset jäljet ovat kuin arpia: kärsimystä ei ole pyyhitty pois, mutta se on saanut uuden merkityksen.
Kulta ei peitä haavoja. Se kulkee niiden läpi.
Teos kertoo rististä paikkana, jossa haava ja lunastus kohtaavat. Se, mikä näytti häpeältä, kärsimykseltä ja tappiolta, muuttui Kristuksessa sovituksen, armon ja voiton paikaksi.
Myös ihmisen elämässä haavat voivat jäädä osaksi tarinaa ilman, että ne enää määrittelevät sen loppua. Jumalan käsissä rikkoutunutkaan ei ole arvoton. Arpi voi kertoa siitä, että haava on ollut olemassa – mutta myös siitä, että elämä jatkui.
Haavoitettu risti ei siis puhu vain kärsimyksestä. Se puhuu rakkaudesta, joka suostui haavoitettavaksi, jotta toinen voisi tulla kannetuksi.
”Hän on haavoitettu meidän pahain tekoimme tähden… ja hänen haavainsa kautta olemme me parannetut.”

The Wounded Cross is a prophetic artwork portraying a cross that visibly carries the marks of suffering – yet also bears the gold of redemption.
At the heart of the painting stands a blood-red cross. Its surface is not smooth or untouched. It is deeply textured, wounded and marked. The red speaks of the blood of Christ and the price paid in love. From its wounded surface, golden traces emerge like scars: the suffering has not been erased, but it has been given a new meaning.
The gold does not hide the wounds. It runs through them.
The artwork speaks of the Cross as the place where wounding and redemption meet. What appeared to be shame, suffering and defeat became, through Christ, the place of atonement, grace and victory.
The same truth can echo through the human story. Our wounds may remain part of us without defining the ending of our story. In the hands of God, what has been broken does not lose its value. A scar may testify that a wound once existed – but also that life continued.
The Wounded Cross therefore speaks not only of suffering, but of a love that allowed itself to be wounded so that another could be carried.
